I’ve updated the audio section of the site with some work which is a little more representative of my current standard, hope you like it! Any feedback would be welcome, as I’m obviously still learning and am interested in what people think of my work.

Today I’m very happy! I just discovered that some stuff I recorded a little while back is up on people’s websites. Check out www.myspace.com/colinnicholson for tracks Ben Fitzgerald of Tarbert and The Grouses Revenge. Also, take a look at www.myspace.com/banjamain for the track Wedding Beats. All three tracks were recorded by myself in the D-Control Studio at SAE Glasgow.

Check out this interview I translated for Synthtopia on Jean-Michel Jarre! I originally posted it as a reply to their own google translation, and whilst it does have a couple of errors (it was a very quick translation) it’s easier to understand than the first attempt :)

If you’ve updated to the latest version of Firefox, you probably won’t be able to see my Gallery or Audio pages :( Hopefully this will be sorted out soon.

As promised, My December is now up on the Recorded Music page. Have a listen, and feel free to email me with any ideas and/or comments. Not much is happening with Caldew Media at the minute, things are just ticking over as I’ve been busy with college stuff. The weeks are just flying by, only 3 months until I’m finished now! Which is a scary prospect. I’m still planning on moving over to Amsterdam to finish my degree, so if all goes ahead I’ll be heading off at the end of October for a new start in yet another new city.

I have uploaded a new track that was recorded on may 9th, called ‘Drifting’. I will soon be adding a MIDI based backing track to Linkin Park’s ‘My December’, and maybe some new pictures :)

I’ve been busy with some audio projects for college, so I’ll try and get some clips up soon of those! Ella and Andy kindly agreed to record a version of Scarborough Fair for me.
Also, I’m busy working on a written assignment about the recording of traditional music. All is going well so far, many thanks to Sarah Allen (Flook), Findlay Napier (Back of the Moon), Andy (Cornerstone) and others who have taken the time to help me out.

Well, some people have been asking if I’ll be doing any more Oxjam gigs for April. The answer is, annoyingly, no as I’m in Glasgow most of the time and it would be far too difficult for me to organise gigs in Penrith from all the way up here. Instead, I’m gonna try and get myself (and plenty of friends!) to some Oxjam gigs in Glasgow :)

Well, quite a few things have happened since the last update. Firstly, www.caldew.co.uk has had a facelift. College is going well, and I’m making plans to study my second year at SAE Amsterdam (sadly Paris is a long lost dream). Also I’ve passed my basic signal flow so can now bring bands in to record! Hopefully the next update will be along faster than this one :)
Wishing everyone a Happy Easter next week!

At the A-Level awards evening for QEGS Penrith, I received the J G Hamlin prize for ICT. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the evening as I was still studying up in Glasgow.
